Gabo Island

August this year I was lucky enough to visit Gabo Island which is just off Mallacoota. Our day of departure was posponed due to the rain the previous night. But early Saturaday morning I drove to Mallacoota hoping all was well for our flight over to the island. All went well, although my husband didn't really enjoy his ride in the little areoplane.

What an amazing setting; a huge pink shaded lighthouse sitting on the edge of the island. Just back from it was the lighthouse keepers accommodation and ours. The huge pink granet was the main materials used in the buildings.

A brilliant place to hide away and watch the whales passing by, the fairy penguines and seals.

Loved it -a must for everyone to visit and enjoy.

Sunday on the Lake

Its this time of the year that is fantastic for being on the lakes system around Lakes Entrance. Recently we celebrated a friends birthday crusing on an old wooden boat. The sun was shinning, the water was refreshing and the prawns and salads for lunch were delicious. Mustn't forget the cooling G & T's.

Blue Duck

Some venture to the Blue Duck -where is it one might ask? Its on this small very windy road just 30 mins by motorbike from Omeo where the rivers meet at Angles Rest. We meet with friends from over the mountains, all arriving on motorbikes, to party the night away. The owner is a strange man, not terribly friendly unless your spending heaps of money, but the atmosphere in the pub in cosy. The cook is a friendly bloke who cooks a great meal and is always in for a chat. Great Autumn season, fresh air, and beautiful colours.

Great things about turning 50

2008 the year of doing exciting things when it is the year you turn 50. So far a walking adventure in NZ. Walking the Heapy Track with Southern Wilderness guiding team. A beauitful experience with different native bush, plans, rivers and experiences every day. Great company, great food and beautiful NZ wines. What more could anyone ask for.
